By giving the same baptism to men and women, Jesus Christ enabled all to exercise the ministries. His words at the Last Supper “Do this in memory of Me”, were addressed equally to women and men. Women served as sacramentally ordained deacons for a thousand years. The exclusion of women from ordination can be shown to derive from cultural prejudice against women.
